    Job Description

    We are seeking a motivated and skilled Vehicle Design Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in the design and development of innovative vehicle solutions, contributing to our mission of revolutionizing the automotive industry.

    Roles and Responsibilities

      • New Product Design and Development: Utilize expertise in mechanical engineering fundamentals to lead the design and development of new vehicle concepts, ensuring alignment with project objectives and industry standards.
      • CAD Design: Proficiently use tools such as Autodesk Inventor, Creo 8, and CATIA to generate design concepts and create detailed 3D models of vehicle components and systems.
      • Electric Vehicle (EV) Expertise: Demonstrate experience working with EVs and a solid understanding of EV architecture to integrate electric drivetrains and optimize vehicle performance.
      • Vehicle Dynamics and Tractive Force Calculations: Apply knowledge of vehicle dynamics, powertrain systems, and tractive force calculations to optimize vehicle performance and handling characteristics.
      • System Integration and Client Interaction: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate vehicle-level systems and engage with clients to address their requirements and concerns effectively.
      • Material Selection and Engineering Concepts: Expertly select materials, perform hand calculations, and apply engineering concepts to ensure the strength, durability, and manufacturability of vehicle components.
      • Test Procedure Development: Write comprehensive test procedures, prepare test reports, and create manufacturing documents to support the validation and production of vehicle designs.
      • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively convey design concepts, collaborate with team members, and interact with clients and stakeholders.

    Desired Candidate Profile

      • SAE Club Experience: Previous involvement in SAE m-Baja, e-Baja, or similar collegiate clubs is preferable, demonstrating a passion for automotive engineering and hands-on experience with vehicle design projects.
      • DFM, DFA, and DFMEA: Experience in Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and conducting Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) to optimize design efficiency and reliability.
      • Root Cause Analysis and Failure Investigation: Conduct root cause analysis, investigate failures, and design effective fixtures to address issues encountered during manufacturing and field operations.
      • PLM/PDM Software Tools: Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Product Data Management (PDM) software tools, with preference given to experience with Autodesk Vault.
      • Drawing Standards and GD&T: Proficiency in creating 2D drawings with functional dimensions according to ISO standards, along with strong skills in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and tolerance stack-up analysis.
      • Fundamentals of Analysis: Knowledge of the fundamentals of analysis, including finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD), to support design optimization and validation activities.
      • Manufacturing Support: Expertise in handling manufacturing and build issues, resolving field failures, and designing tooling and fixtures to support production processes effectively.
